Softalk was established in 1993 to provide collaboration software solutions to the mass market. Softalk's mission remained to provide affordable, easy to use collaboration and messaging solutions to the small to medium sized business.
A brief history
Softalk's first product was called OfficeTalk, a collaboration client, which provided shared calendars, contacts and email. OfficeTalk sold in excess of 30,000 seats in the United Kingdom, within a couple of years of launch.
In 1999, Softalk released Softalk Mail Server (aka WorkgroupMail), a full featured mail server aimed at the SME market. This was followed in 2003 by the release of WorkgroupShare, a collaboration server, which lets users of Outlook share their Outlook folders with their colleagues. In 2005, Softalk released the Softalk Collaboration Suite a fully integrated collaboration solution for the small to medium sized business.
In November 2005, Softalk was ranked 14th fastest growing technology company in London and the South of England at the Deloitte 2005 Fast 50 awards, held in London.
In June 2007, Softalk released Softalk Share Server, a world class alternative to Exchange Server for Outlook collaboration.

In April 2013 Gordano consolidated the product offerings from the Softalk suite and focussed on developing and supporting the 2 best selling Softalk products and bringing them into the Gordano family of products. WorkgroupShare and Softalk Mail server remain available and supported by the highly skilled technical teams in Gordano.

Gordano have been working with small to medium sized companies for a long time and we feel we know their needs very well, particularly when it comes to their requirements for messaging and collaboration. We feel very strongly that products intended for enterprise companies can not be easily squeezed to fit the needs of smaller companies. Smaller companies are more suited to products that have been specifically designed with them in mind. All of our products have been designed so that they are straight forward, easy-to-use and affordable. For this reason, we believe our Softalk products are ideal for the small to medium sized business that they are aimed at.
